Ingredients

For the filling

  • 1 can can of tuna, drained Ensure well-drained to avoid a runny filling.
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise Can substitute with Greek yogurt for a lighter option.
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella) Feel free to experiment with different cheeses.
  • 2 large whole wheat wraps or tortillas Use gluten-free tortillas if needed.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • as needed Lettuce or spinach leaves (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix together the drained tuna, mayonnaise, mustard, diced celery, diced onion, salt, and pepper until everything is well blended.
  • Lay the whole wheat wraps flat on a clean surface. Place a handful of lettuce or spinach in the center of each wrap.
  • Spoon the tuna mixture generously on top of the greens.
  • Sprinkle a handful of shredded cheese over the tuna mixture.
  • Roll the wrap tightly, making sure to fold in the sides as you go for a secure closure.
  • For added warmth and flavor, grill or toast the wrap in a skillet until the cheese melts and the wrap is golden and crispy (optional).
  • Slice in half and serve.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for about 2-3 days. It's best to heat them in a skillet or toaster oven for crispiness rather than in the microwave. Try adding spices like paprika or fresh herbs for more flavor.
